The meeting was structured into five scientific sessions and a Stirring Committee Meeting.

The five scientific session sincluded presentations of the work done by each group since February 2009. The presentations were given by the researchers of each group and were followed by overviews on the progress made and on the perspectives of each group, presented by the scientists in charge of the group.

The scientific sessions were concluded with a general discussion on (i) the assessment of the S&T progress and (ii) the planning and coordination of the research activities for the rest of project-year 2 in relation to the respective deliverables and milestone 2. The overall assessment of progress was found positive. The possibility of a six month to a one year extension of the project was also discussed. No particular difficulties where identified regarding the timely completion of the deliverables and Milestone 2 according to the work plan, with the exception of Deliverables D14 and D15 (Dielectric anisotropy measurements, Optical anisotropy measurements) for which an extension to project months 24, was found necessary. It was also found useful to continue work related to deliverable D13 (Side-on polymers) and to extend the completion of this deliverable to project month 24. These decisions were in accordance with the proposed time extension of the project.

The Steering Committee Meeting took place in the morning of September 19 and comprised discussion and decision making on several subjects.  At the same time a scientific meeting between the researchers employed by the program was held. This was a meeting where young and experienced researchers had discussions concerning the joint research activities of the project.
